The Frost Pocket Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough 2008

May-26-2010

We enjoyed this at Milsom`s in Dedham recently and simply had to stock it. Fresh, vibrant and gorgeous! By Lawson`s Dry Hills Wines.

Man O War Rose, Waiheke Island 2009

May-20-2010

Deliciously ripe, dense and juicy, this 100% Merlot Rose is the best I tasted in NZ with luscious strawberries and cream up front and in the background interesting savoury notes of liquorice, cola and herbs. A wonderful texture too, this Rose wine is a far cry from the pale salmon pink dry Rose styles we sell so much of here at The Wine Centre, but by gum it is good and comes well recommended.

Man O War Syrah, Waiheke Island 2008

May-20-2010

The tiny island of Waiheke is a short ferry ride from Auckland, one we travelled on our visit to NZ earlier this year. Read all about it! [travelogue, home page]. A few degrees warmer than the mainland the wines of Waiheke can be some of the ripest most expensive wines in NZ. The Man O War Syrah is a delicious example. Densely packed with ripe dark berries and characteristic white pepper, the wine is vibrant yet savoury and luscious. Match in heaven: beef steak!

Man O War Chardonnay, Waiheke Island 2008

May-20-2010

The long awaited Man O War has arrived. Those of you who have read our new zealand travelogue will know we fell head over hills for this Chardonnay. It is quite simply dreamy. Freshly melted butter on toast with ripe pears and cream and tasty citrus fruits. Match in heaven: pork belly and crackling. Robert Parker 90 pts

Deakin Estate Moscato, South Australia 2009

May-13-2010

This light, aromatic, slightly spritzy white wine is gorgeous as a palate cleanser. Only 4.5% alcohol, it is feather light and sweet-tasting with Granny Smith flavours amid wild flowers and a bright, grapey character. 100% Muscat (Gordo Blanco).

D`Arenberg The Dead Arm Shiraz, McLaren Vale 2006

May-13-2010

Fabulous red. Its fascinating spice amid red and blue fruits on the nose provide immediate appeal, yet the palate is even more satisfying, its depth of flavour reaching black olive, mineral and dark chocolate. Wonderful wine now with red meats, will cellar over next ten years.

Mitchelton Crescent, Victoria 2005

May-13-2010

Violet, white chocolate and sweet-spice, supported by ripe plums, blackberries and tobacco, produced from 37 year old own root vines. 40% Mourvedre, 30% Shiraz and 30% Grenache.

Stonier Pinot Noir, Mornington Peninsula 2008

May-13-2010

Vibrant ripe cherry and savoury plum supported by light oak. Attractive cool climate Pinot with a touch of class! Very well made.

Katnook Founders Block Merlot, Coonawarra 2006

May-13-2010

Intriguing wine with red fruits and a delicious savoury character. Notes of chocolate and marshmallow add a creaminess to the fruit quality.

Glenguin Protos Chardonnay, Hunter Valley 2007

May-13-2010

Nutty Chardonnay with citrus fruits and a creamy mouthfeel. This is classic in-depth Chardonnay with power and considerable style.
