Queulat Pinot Noir Gran Reserva 2006

Queulat Pinot Noir Gran Reserva 2006

The Queulat Pinot Noir ”Gran Reserva” is produced from 100% Pinot Noir grapes grown in the loam and clay soils of Casablanca. Oak ageing lends a gentle vanilla-spice to the sweet-savoury mix of fruits and Pinot characters.

Ventisquero`s Grey Carmenere  is a premium oak-matured red grown in Maipo`s loam and clay soils. The wine is 86% Carmenere, 7% Syrah and 7% Cabernet Sauvignon. Carmenere is a warming, spicy red, ideal for red meats, spicy dishes or even cheeses.

Delta Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough 2008

Delta Sauvignon

Delta Sauvignon

Delta`s 10 hectare vineyard of Sauvignon Blanc is at Marlborough`s Dillon`s Point. Winemaker Matt Thompson believes the slightly cooler nights here produce the best possible fruit. Certainly the wine is hugely aromatic and deliciously fruity with blackcurrants and passionfuit and an attractive minerality.

Meursault Les Tillets

Patrick Javillier is a great producer of traditional Meursault: big and bold with a good dollop of Devonshire cream!

House Claret

House Claret

Chateau Les Hauts de Massonne du Chateau Pillet, to give the chateau its full name, is our new House Claret. We are delighted with its quality and it comes highly recommended at £8.99 per bottle. The grape mix is 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc. The wine is perfectly drinkable now in its youth and will develop well over the next few years.

Chateau Haut L`Eveque, Passac-Leognan 2005

Chateau Haut L`Eveque

Chateau Haut L`Eveque

A modern, rich claret of an excellent vintage, comes highly recommended. Would usually be Cabernet dominant on the left bank, however, this wine departs from protocol with a mix of 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot, over 10 hectares. The resultant wine was aged in 100% new oak, testament to the value owner Michel Gonet gives to this wine.

Chateau Courtade-Dubuc, Premieres Cotes de Bordeaux 2002

Chateau Courtade-Dubuc

Chateau Courtade-Dubuc

A 6-8 hectare vineyard run by its owner Monsieur Daron, composed of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine was matured for 12-months in one-third new oak and then given another 2-years to mature in bottle before release. We were able to buy a small parcel of this vintage at a very good price. No question this is very good value claret.

Brampton Chardonnay

Brampton wines are made by Rustenberg, well-known for their quality wines but also with a history of raising Jersey cows. Indeed, Brampton is named after Rustenberg`s most famous bull!

The Chardonnay is UNOAKED and very versatile as a partner with food.
