Cote Rotie, Pierre Gaillard 2006
In a quarter of a century Peirre`s hard work and boundless enthusiasm have turned him from newcomer to ambassador for the region. Produced from 85% Syrah and as much as 15% Viognier grapes (the latter white grape adds aromatics), this Cote Rotie has tremendous intensity and balance. A red for a nice piece of fillet steak!
Tasting notes:
Crimson red hues, interesting nose of blackberry and tapenade, on the palate great juicy acidity, sweet and savoury mixed fruits, attractive floral fragrance throughout to finish, touch of oak-spice. Delicious, vibrant wine, still young yet hugely enjoyable now.
